The Small Awards 2026
Arcanum Copy has been shortlisted for the ‘Sole to Sole’ award at The Small Awards 2026 – a national programme run by Small Business Britain, one of the UK’s most prominent champions of the small business sector. The awards have been running since 2017, recognising businesses across the UK that are often overlooked by larger award programmes.
The ‘Sole to Sole’ category is specifically for sole traders, celebrating the tenacity and drive it takes to go it alone. The judges look for considerable progression, a sense of contributing to your community, and excellence across all areas of the business. Arcanum was shortlisted from entries across the entirety of the UK, and the winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony in London later this month.
Arcanum Academy becomes Lincolnshire’s Top-Rated Training Company
Last year I launched Arcanum Academy as the training and consultancy branch of the business. Its growth has been faster than I could have predicted, so much so that it was nominated for ‘Best Service Provider’ at the Lincolnshire Marketing Awards.
In under a year, Arcanum Academy has become the top-rated training company in Lincolnshire, significantly surpassing every other provider in the region in terms of the sheer volume of five-star Google reviews. Over 600 business owners have attended my ticketed courses, and they continue to sell out every single month. Demand has grown so quickly that I’ve had to upgrade the venue and increase capacity to accommodate the numbers.
The Academy doesn’t just serve Lincolnshire, either. I’ve delivered training to businesses up and down the UK, working across industries and significantly shaping their marketing outputs and profitability. I’m not a copywriter who fell into the profession by accident. I hold a First Class Honours Degree, a Masters at Distinction, and a PhD in English from the University of Lincoln, where I also worked as an Associate Lecturer. That academic grounding gives the work a structural depth that goes beyond writing words that just sound nice – it’s the mechanics of persuasion, argumentation, and audience engagement, studied and applied over the entirety of my adult life.
